Biography of the artist: please see here below
Description of the work of art: At that time the term Regentag (Rainy Day) had a very special meaning in Hundertwasser´s life. His deeply felt remark: “On a rainy day the colours are beginning to shine, that´s why a dull day - a rainy day – is the most beautiful day for me. That is a day I can work. When it is raining I´m happy. And when it is raining I know that my day is starting”, had received a much more comprehensive meaning with the giving of the name Regentag to his ship, which had been finished after four years of rebuild in the shipyards of Venice. As a model for this piece a 1958 painted picture Eyebalance IV was chosen, which had been created during visiting a cousin in Sichtigvor in Northgermany, the variation of a spiral, crosssized with an eyeshaped centre, surrounded by a texture of red, green and purple lines. The upper half is flatter which shows a printing quality of an amazing kind. Günter Dietz had reached a first highlight of the new technique of a silkcut.
